CueSeal Bureau — Applied AV Research
Edition 2026.1
“The impact goes beyond replacing serial digital interface (SDI) with IP to having the flexibility to implement an entire new set of applications based on, and leveraged off, information technology (IT) protocols and infrastructure.”
SMPTE, on the ST 2110 suite of standards — “SMPTE ST 2110 FAQ”

Applied research for the next era of AVoIP.

Professional video finished its move from cable to IP. ST 2110 compliance is maturing fast — interoperability testing and certification are real, and growing. The open frontier now sits one layer up, in operability, exactly where broadcast engineering meets applied AI. CueSeal works that frontier, in the open.

Operating principle

A human runs the research. The control room is what makes it a system, not a hobby.

Frontier models are commodity now — everyone is building on roughly the same ones. The moat is the audit log, approvals, policy editor, failure analytics, and provenance ledger, built around a research process where a human does the applied work and agents handle the rest.

The three planes

A media-over-IP system is best reasoned about as three distinct planes. Conflating them is a top source of errors.

01 · Media plane

The essence itself: video, audio, ANC flows. High-bitrate, loss-intolerant, often multicast.

02 · Timing plane

PTP: the shared clock that lets receivers align and switch flows cleanly. Timing problems masquerade as media problems.

03 · Control plane

Discovery, connection, config, and the agent layer operating all of it. This is production; changes are high-consequence and human-gated.

The moat

One control room. One eval gym. One knowledge spine.

The moat is the discipline, and the discipline only works if it stays singular — three control rooms would be three half-products. Cross-pollination happens through the shared control room, not by wiring platforms to each other behind the scenes.

What → Why → How → Risk → Verify

Define the thing before the how.

Define the thing and why it matters before how. Name the risk. Finish with how you'd verify it: a command, a measurement, an acceptance test. Every design ships with Assumptions, Security Notes and Sources.

Every non-trivial claim traces back to a named publisher. Volatile facts — spec versions, encoder flags, CVEs — get verified at runtime, never trusted from memory.

Cite everything non-trivial
To a publisher. Prefer two or more independent sources for critical settings.
Secure by default
Across media code, ML pipelines and control planes alike.
The control plane is production
Consequential, AI-proposed changes are human-gated, dry-run-able and reversible.
AI is a tool with a threat model
Evals, guardrails and human gates around every ML/LLM component.
Worked research

Real builds, run through the rigor.

The appendices are the running demonstration — first-party projects developed through threat models, two-axis eval gyms, tool specs and model cards.

Appendix A

Naming Enforcer

A metadata / naming-convention enforcer formalized as a secure tool spec plus an ML model card.

Appendix B

Civic Engine

A human-directed, agent-assisted studio and a civic-video pipeline: shared threat model, safety evals, a two-stage anti-hallucination binder.

Appendix C

Verification Desk

A newsroom verification desk end-to-end — C2PA provenance reframed as re-attestation-and-durability, not a metadata read.

CueSeal's engineering spine is a modular, cited, load-on-demand knowledge base released under CC BY 4.0. We're seeking research grants, philanthropic support, and collaborators who care about trustworthy media infrastructure.

This site is the public engineering face; venture, funding and legal framing live elsewhere by design.
